Prime Minister Appoints New Energy Regulatory Commission Leadership

Published: 2026-09-19

The prime minister appointed a new chair of the Energy Regulatory Commission for a two-year term under Article 8.3 of the Energy Law. B. Amarsanaa was named a full-time regulator and B. Yeren-Ulzii a non-full-time regulator, also for two years. The appointments followed the expiry of the terms of outgoing chair E. Tuvshinchuluun, full-time regulator L. Dashmyagmarjav and non-full-time regulator B. Enkhjargal. The reports say the appointments were made by prime ministerial order under the law. They identify the new chair inconsistently: the body text of all three reports gives the name as L. Jambaa, while one source title uses L. Jadambaa. The reports give no further details about the new officials’ previous positions or policy priorities.

That meeting had been intended to release S. Amarsaikhan from the post and consider G. Temuulen as his replacement. Temuulen’s candidacy had already received support from the governing board, according to the report. The upcoming sessions are to present the appointment; the source does not say that parliament has approved it or that Temuulen has taken office. A road near Nisekh in Khoroo 10 of Ulaanbaatar’s Khan-Uul District will close from 10 p.m. on September 18 until 6 a.m. on September 22. No Official Deportation Decision Reported for Japanese Citizen I. Tomoko

Published: 2026-09-19

No authorized body has issued a decision to deport Japanese citizen I. Tomoko, despite social-media claims on September 18 that she was preparing to leave Mongolia, Isee reported, citing a source. The article reported that the speculation may be related to a case involving S. Molor-Erdene, described as a philosopher who was reportedly detained and investigated on allegations of undermining national unity. He appeared on Tomoko’s interview program, Tomoko’s Friend, according to the article. Under the Law on the Legal Status of Foreign Nationals, a deportation decision is made by the head of the state administrative body responsible for foreign nationals, based on an immigration inspector’s conclusion; re-entry can be barred for one to 10 years depending on the grounds. The article said the origin of the deportation claim remains unclear.
