President Khurelsukh Leaves for SCO Leaders’ Meeting in Bishkek

President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh left for Bishkek to attend the expanded meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Council of Heads of State as an observer on August 31 and September 1. He is scheduled to address the meeting and hold talks with leaders from SCO member states and dialogue partners on bilateral relations, cooperation and issues of mutual interest. Capital Plans 430,000 Tonnes of Heating Fuel Sales This Winter

Ulaanbaatar plans to sell 430,000 tonnes of fuel for the 2026-2027 heating season through 446 outlets, as the city steps up preparations before heating begins in September. Ulaanbaatar will suspend its odd-even license-plate traffic restriction on September 1, the first day of the new school year, the Traffic Management Center announced. All vehicles may circulate that day regardless of the final digit on their registration plate. The city will resume its regular temporary restriction on September 2. Grid Operator Targets Completion of Winter Preparations Before Peak Demand

The National Power Transmission Grid’s Eastern and Southeastern Regional Branch says it will complete its remaining winter-readiness work in September and October, before the 2026–2027 peak-load season. A 20-wagon freight train with a stated 1,700-tonne capacity travelled 91 km on August 29 to inspect the first phase of the Baga Khangai-Khushig Valley-Emelt branch railway. More than 20,000 delegates from over 180 countries discussed desertification, land degradation, drought, restoration of degraded land, sustainable pasture management, financing and international cooperation. School and Kindergarten Health Screening Set to Begin Before October 1

Nationwide preventive and early-detection health screenings at kindergartens and general education schools are scheduled to begin before October 1 for the 2026-2027 academic year, the Ministry of Education said.
